MASA Gold Medal & Best Teacher Awards 2016 function was held on 10th December 2016 at 6.00 pm onwards   at L. S. Raheja School of Architecture, Bandra(E), Mumbai.

Sanat Kamath student of Rizvi College of Architecture, Mumbai sang Saraswati Vandana at the beginning of the program.

Prof. Akhtar Chauhan, Past President, MASA welcomed all dignitaries and invitees and also introduced the MASA Awards and gave the report on MASA activities.

Prof. Vijay Sohoni, Ex-President, Council of Architecture, New Delhi; Prof. Aneeta Gokhale-Benninger, Director, CDSA, Pune Office Bearers of MASA (past and present) and heads of member schools of Architecture were prominently present for the programme. Students of Architecture of Mumbai also attended the programme in large number.

MASA Gold Medal & Best Teacher Awards 2016:

  • Sonam Rajendra Ambe of Anjuman-I-Islam’s Kalsekar Technical Campus, Navi Mumbai was awarded MASA Best Teacher for Humanities. Ar. Sonam Ambe is an Assistant Professor at Anjuman-I-Islam’s Kalsekar Technical Campus, Navi Mumbai. She presented her work with the help of audio-video presentation, which focused on the pedagogical strategies developed by her along with her team members for her school.
  • Vaishali Mangesh Anagal of MKSSS’s Dr. B. N. College of Architecture, Pune was awarded MASA Best Teacher for Architectural Technology. Ar. Vaishali Anagal is an Assistant Professor at MKSSS’s Dr. B. N. College of Architecture, Pune. She presented her work with the help of audio-video presentation, which focused on the detailing pedagogical strategies adopted by her for technical subjects.
  • Faizan I. Khatri of Rizvi College of Architecture, Mumbai was awarded MASA Best Teacher for Architectural Design. Ar. Faizan Khatri is a Core Faculty at Rizvi College of Architecture, Mumbai. He presented his work with the help of audio-video presentation. He is also a Practicing Architect. His presentation was a judicious blend of practice & pedagogy, achieved by him in his studio.
  • Kamu Iyer nominated by School of Environment and Architecture, Mumbai was awarded MASA Gold Medal 2016 for life time contribution to the cause of Architectural Education. Prof. Kamu Iyer has taught at various schools of Architecture and has been on jury panels at various school and public competitions all over India. Ar. Kaiwan Mehta a noted architectural journalist very aptly introduced him. Kamu Iyer talked about present status of architecture education in India. He, in his presentation said that Architecture Education today is more about ‘What’ and ‘How’ rather than focusing on ‘Why’. The theme of his presentation was abstractism, through which he presented various projects undertaken by him in his lifetime.

Overall the award functions was a grand success with vote of thanks presented by newly elected Vice President Prof. Yadgiri Konda . The award functions concluded with National Anthem.
