The MASA Convention 2018 was held on 15 and 16 October 2018 at USM’s Kamala Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies, Mumbai. This year’s highlight was the introduction of the Mahender Vasandani Urban Design (MVUD) Awards for students of Masters Programs in Architecture. Day 1 of the Convention was taken up by the presentation and jury for MVUD. After a hectic day of discussions and deliberations, the two winners were announced in a glittering ceremony in the evening. Both the winning entries were presented to the eager audience by the students. This was followed by the MASA Lifetime Achievement Gold Medal award, which was presented to eminent architect and academician Prof. Shriram R Marathe. An interactive dinner in the beautiful precincts of KRVIA concluded the first day.
Day 2 was devoted to the MASA Fellowship program. The second edition of the Fellowship Program received an overwhelming response from enthusiastic faculty. The participants had to present their work in an open jury where very meaningful and informative discussions took place. Four participants were awarded the fellowships, which are announced in this issue. The General Body Meeting of MASA was held in the afternoon session. The MASA Convention 2018 concluded with the General Body Meeting of MASA and election of the new President and Executive Committee. We are dedicating the next issue for announcing the new Committee and their agenda for the next two years.
A gentle reminder to all institutes to renew their membership with MASA!
